Welcome to The Midlands Open Backgammon Tournament  2021!

The 2021 Tournament will take place in Moseley, Birmingham on the weekend of 18th/19th September 2021.

      • 64 player event, swiss style (5 rounds) qualifying on Day 1 for the final 16 on Day 2 with Consolation, Last Chance and Very Last Chance

Format

Friday – There will be a social warm up on Friday night with a variety of events running all of which should be concluded by the end of the evening – the emphasis is on fun backgammon activities like chouettes and jackpots.
Saturday – Round robin in groups of 6, 9pt matches to qualify for  final KO section
Saturday Night – Doubles (5-pts) + Super(ish)JackPot + other events as required
Sunday – Playoffs, Main last 8 KO (13pts) + Consolation (7pts), Last Chance (5pts), Very Last Chance(5pts)

Start times
Friday Fun – 6pm
Saturday – Club opens at 9.30 – registration (+Side pools) finishes at 10.30.  Play starts at 11.
Sunday – play starts at 10.30

Venue

The venue is Moseley All Services Club, 91 Church Rd, Moseley, Birmingham B13 9EA.  There is car parking on site and surrounding roads.  The playing room is easily large enough – so plenty of space to move around and relax.  Plus it has air-conditioning if we have hot days.

Buffet lunch on Saturday and Sunday is included in the fees, as is tea, coffee, squash and and water all day.  The club bar will be open all day/evening for other refreshments.

Dinner on Saturday night 6pm-8pm Lots of very good local restaurants bars and supermarkets within a 5 minute walk.  We can also order in takeaways to eat in the club.

Moseley is a wonderful vibrant and historic area of Birmingham.  The Birmingham Backgammon Club is especially fond of the Farmers Market….
